3 nabbed, Police recover pistol, stolen items worthy K2.5 Million

Police in Mangochi District over the weekend arrested a 15-year-old boy from Sabibu Village, Traditional Authority Kapoloma in Machinga and his two accomplices identified as Thomson Veresiano, 37 and Evance Bama, 26, over illegal possession of firearm, house breaking and theft.

On Friday October 21, 2022 unknown criminals broke into Eunice Nondowe's house at Mgundaphiri Village and went away with assorted household properties worthy K700,000.

As Mangochi Police detectives were visiting the scene of incident, the three suspects were caught red-handed inside Edward Chithambo's house, who is a neighbour of the first victim, while they had packed assorted items in two sack bags when the owner went to the market.

Upon being quizzed, the three led the team to their houses within the township where police recovered some of the items which were stolen from the first victim and other houses.

The items include two plasma TV screens, two mattresses, two pressing irons, samsung tablet, Eco DVD player, HP laptop, six remote controls, assorted kitchen utensils, bedsheets, assorted laptop bags and clothes all items worthy K2.5 Million.

The second suspect was also found with a pistol without ammunition at his house.

Meanwhile the items have already been identified by owners. 

Both minor and Bama will answer charges of house breaking and theft while Veresiano has been charged with illegal possession of fire arm, house breaking and theft and will appear before court after completion of paperwork.

Veresiano hails from Gwedeza Village Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu while Bama comes from Mpinganjira Village Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi District.
