Police launch manhunt over murder of game ranger

Police in Chikwawa have launched a manhunt for unknown criminals who are allegedly to be poachers for murdering a game ranger.

The deceased was identified as Bendius Amadi 31 of Chiwale Village Traditional Authority Kasisi in Chikwawa District.

Amadi, who was working with Majete Game Reserve as a game ranger, was murdered on 20 October 2022 by a suspected gang of poachers.

At the time, Amadi was  patrolling within Chedwiti area in the game reserve when he met his fate.

Chikwawa Police detectives took Amadi's body to Chikwawa District Hospital where it was examined.


Postmortem examinations indicated that death was due to excessive blood loss as a result of deep stab wounds.

Meanwhile, a manhunt for the culprits is underway and, once arrested, they will be charged with murder.

Police is therefore appealing to anyone who may have any information that may lead to their arrest to come forward.
