Malawi Police Service launches revised Public Order Policy ahead of 2025 elections

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has launched the revised Public Order Management Policy and Operational Guidelines (3rd Edition) to ensure peace and safety during public gatherings and large-scale events, particularly ahead of the 2025 General Elections. The announcement was made during a meeting of senior police officers at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on 14th April 2025.

Malawi Police develops Gender Policy

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) is developing a Gender Policy to promote fairness, safety, and equal treatment for both men and women in the service expected to be launched before the upcoming 2025 general elections.

The move was announced during a consultation meeting held in Lilongwe at the National Police Headquarters, where police officers, partners, and gender experts came together to shape the final draft.

Radio crucial in fighting GBV - Ministry

The Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare has described radio as a crucial tool in combating Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the country. 

Principal Gender and Social Welfare Officer in the Ministry, Goodson Jumbe, has said this today, 15 February 2025 during the close of a four-day workshop for Police Public Relations Officers (PROs) and reporters for Police FM Radio held at Police College in Zomba. 

Jumbe says radio teaches a lot of people about evils of GBV and ways of dealing with it; saying this is why the Ministry values this medium.

In an exciting boost for volleyball sports development in Malawi, Jia Bai Li Supermarket and Purity Sanitary Products have teamed up as co-sponsors of Blue Eagles Volleyball club for the upcoming 2025 league season. The two companies have sponsored the club, wholly owned by the Malawi Police Service, with K6 million as a starter pack for the next league season.
